Music was the was most debatable topic for our group.

Two key moments needed careful consideration when it came to music choices:

1. Diegetic music coming from TV.

2. Diegetic (fades into non-diegetic) music when the record player starts.

The choice regarding music from the TV was relatively straightforward. In this scene, Sam is lounging on the couch, watching in Fantasia on the TV. Originally we opted for the Fantasia soundtrack to play during the scene. To ensure it sounded authentic and truly diegetic, we originally intended to play it directly from the TV. Unfortunately, technical issues with the microphone forced us to recreate the effect during post-production.

Matthew's summary of the process of adding in post-production...

The choice of music from the record player is where my group had the most disagreement. Oscar wanted a thriller/horror typical song to play, potentially including string instruments. Whereas Asher wanted a more modern song, to add an unique aspect to our film, and creating an eerie and creepy vibe. Whereas myself and Eva were in-between these ideas.

We settled on Ashers idea, as music comes under sound design, which is her role. So while we had settled on our preferred musical style, finding a song that worked proved to be a challenge.

The main songs we tried:

- Pink Floyd, Breathe (In the Air)

- Russ Morgan, Goodnight, My Beautiful

We also created a playlist, to put together all the potential songs to use.

While I can't speak to the exact processes which Asher undertook in testing the songs, I know that she spent a lot of time creating "remixes" in Logic Pro X, changing the pacing and tempo of certain songs to try and get them to match up. I know she also experimented using GarageBand on her iPad to modify and add preset effects to the different songs.

At the end we decided to go with the song "Goodnight, My Beautiful"
