Character Analysis:
Name of character: Sam Gender: Female Age: 17 years old Role in the film opener: Protagonist
Character Traits: Curious, oblivious, and emotional. Hair: Worn out flowing down her body.
Makeup: No intended makeup is put on.
Costume: White singlet with comfy cream tracksuit pants.
Casting Choice: Eva Pleciak (myself)
Why: We chose specifically a girl to play the lead for the opener because it’s a common trope for the thriller genre to have a girl play the victim. It worked out to be myself because I wanted to play the acting role, and it was the most convenient choice.
Appeal to target audience / how they will help tell the story?: For our young adult target audience having myself play the victim will create a sense of realism for that audience. Typically, young adult audiences are targeted with films with people their age getting into terrifying situations. Whereas, if this would be a older audience it probably wouldn’t be as effective. So, casting a teenager is perfect for engagement.
Practicalities: An issue that can arise from this casting choice, is that it is a group member. I do acknowledge this is a convenient thing, however it means I may potentially have to multi-task when it comes to the production, and it means we loose one group member behind the scenes.
